Situated in the heart of Brighton and graded ‘Outstanding’ in key areas by Ofsted in its June 2011 report, Brighton Met is an international centre of vocational excellence, is one of the top performing Further Education Colleges in the country and our students regularly get regional and national awards for outstanding achievement. College facilities include a modern Learning Resource Centre, Refectory and a Training Restaurant, The Gallery, in the centre of the city.

New Building

The College works with a wide range of partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors to achieve its challenging targets and to widen participation across the city. The College plays a key role in the strategic planning and workforce development of Brighton and Hove through membership of Brighton and Hove Economic Partnership, Brighton Business City Forum, the Brighton and Hove learning Partnership and Sussex Enterprise.


The College has its own Hair & Beauty Training Salons, City Revival offering an excellent value service to local customers as well as its own training Restaurant called The Gallery open to the public offering fantastic value for money. While our Careers Team work with internal students to progress as well as helping local residents through the National Careers Service. Aside from our central campus on Pelham Street in the heart of Brighton’s North Laine, there is the East campus on Wilson Avenue which hosts our Visual and Performing Arts programme as well as Music Technology and the Trades. Motor Vehicle students East Campus learn in a new state-of-the-art workshop while our Adult Education courses provide a wide range of recreational and training opportunities for local people

Brighton Met has over 750 full-time and part-time staff – and we are one of the top ten employers in the city. Staff includes lecturers, business/student support staff, premises support staff, administrators and management. Every year, 2,000 full-time, 7,000 part time, almost 400 Higher Education and 400 14-16 year old students as well as many international and European students choose Brighton Met as their place of further and higher education training. An important part of our work is delivering Foundation Degrees in collaboration with the University of Brighton. In addition, the College provides training to over 2,000 businesses via its ‘Greater Brighton Skills’ department which focuses on employer training needs. Offering over 800 courses from basic level right through to business and postgraduate training, Brighton Met is working with its partners to develop the workforce of the future.
